Poster Printing > Glossary > Pigment Ink
Pigment Ink is a type of ink used in printing that contains solid color particles, offering durability and resistance to fading.
Unlike its counterpart, dye ink, which soaks into paper, pigment ink sits on the surface of the paper and binds to the fibers, making it resistant to water, smudging, and fading. This makes it an ideal choice for prints that need to withstand the test of time such as archival documents and fine art reproductions. Pigment inks are composed of tiny solid particles that do not dissolve in water, ensuring that they maintain their color integrity even when exposed to various environmental factors. While typically more expensive than dye-based inks, their superior resistance to degradation from sunlight and other elements often justifies the cost for many users seeking quality and durability in their printed materials.
